River Dance Lodge is where I’m at.
Emerald dove and robin chat,
(dawn chorus like you’ve never heard)
waxbill, swift, white bellied sunbird,
willow warbler, greenbul too,
batis, bunting, swamp boubou,
collared sunbird, southern tit,
darter, cormorant, red barbet,
kingfisher (giant) and sunbird (copper
– no brighter bangle up for offer),
helmeted shrike darts into view,
loerie, lark and lapwing (whew).
Fork-tailed drongo (what the hell),
marsh owl, martin, swallow as well,
coucal, bulbul, grey hornbill…
My poem is penned: their wings are still.
