Pilgrim1Pilgrim’s Bookshop, Kathmandu, burnt to the ground on 17th May. Its crowded shelves stocked not only books from all over the world, including special editions and rare treasures, but also works of art, photography, you-name-it. Knowing the fragile wiring in many areas of Nepal it is probably a miracle that this shop lasted this long, but it is a tragedy nevertheless. For many travellers this shop occupied a special place in our hearts. Friends who first introduced me to its delights sent me these sad but evocative photos. I pray that it will rise again from the ashes like the phoenix.
