Wrote this one for you:


We painted the room rice-paper white

Which wasn’t white at all but yellow

Something our soldiers never were

Nor lily-livered come to that

But how about all those brides in white

When not a vestige of virgin about them

Meanwhile grey horses are actually white

But ashen faces are not at all

In the trenches against

Mounds of bleached sandbags

Only the flag’s white stripes

Penetrate the darkness

Not a single star



  1. … most white horses are actually grey
    and they were born either black or bay
    only albinos are white
    their pink eyes and skin are a fright…

  2. you can’t expect brides to be pure…
    isn’t it everyone’s goal to “score”?
