Perhaps this is an urban legend. I’m passing it on all the same.
On a cold winter’s morning in 2007 the Washington Post (who else?) conducted a social experiment in the DC Metro Station. The world-famous violinist Joshua Bell played Bach non-stop on a $3,5 million violin for 45 minutes. In that time only six people stopped to listen briefly and he collected a total of $32 from passersby.
Only two days before, people had paid $100 a head to hear him play the exact same music to a packed hall.
